English Translation
When you count them, you will find there are not many
Moments in the fleeting lifespan of a temporal being (1)
You pass away in a twinkling of leisure
It is a hard task just to finish tracing the outline (2)
The remains of abundance, a larva grows old
Catching up to debilitation and transience
Constant laments, giving up, bearing grudge, and yet at the brink
It sustains me to take my last sleep with pride in my piled traces
To understand that which you will not grasp with admonishing
In what way does the falling cicada grow and perish?
Seemingly foolish yet curious
It also interrupts the rustling of the bamboo leaves
The remains of abundance, a larva grows old
If it were possible, I would look for the five passions in this wind (3)
Constant laments, giving up, bearing grudge, and yet at the brink
It sustains me to take my last sleep with pride in my piled traces
Extensive surroundings of the grave of the departed wind
For living things there exists the present moment
Constant laments, giving up, bearing grudge, and yet at the brink
I cherish and appreciate the speed, therefore like the wind, be fleet (4)
